CELL ADOPTION PROGRAM
Answering the call of Matthew 25:
I was in prison and you came to visit Me. When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?
The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.'
THE MINISTRY
We are following God’s lead by responding to an opportunity to partner with Good News Jail & Prison Ministry to pilot the Cell Adoption Program in the Douglas County Correctional Facility.
CAP allows Glad Tidings to meet people at the point of their need by taking spiritual ownership of a housing unit. We will bring church services to the inmates on a consistent, weekly basis each Sunday afternoon. Our ministry will illustrate God’s love through:
PRAYER: We will develop a powerful prayer team who will intercede on behalf of the inmates, correctional facility staff & Glad Tidings servants ministering inside the jail.
EVANGELISM: We will seek the lost, present the gospel, and provide encouragement & hope in light of God’s word & purpose for their lives.
DISCIPLESHIP: We will testify to our faith by sharing our struggles & dependence on God. We will teach precepts of the faith, encouraging each inmate to “Live the Journey” God’s way.
RELATIONSHIP: Only God has the power to set the captive free. Our opportunity is to invest in the lives of those whom society discards. Through His power, we can walk the road in love with those whom He desires to transform.
THE MINISTRY TEAM
To effectively bring church worship services into the housing unit, our desire is to build teams who will serve on a rotating basis. Each team member serves a vital role & will choose how often they serve. We encourage involvement from both men & women!
Prayer Warriors: may or may not attend the church service; serve through intercessory prayer
Teachers: bring the Bible message (either in sermon or Bible study style)
Worship Leaders: set the tone for the church service, lead the group in worship
Ministry Supporters: attend the service, interact with inmates, support in prayer
Team Coordinators: the person who serves as the team coordinator handles team logistics. This person is selected within each team & can also serve in any capacity as a team member (Prayer, Teacher, Worship, Ministry
THE COMMITMENT
When serving on a team, you should expect to invest a minimum of 3 hours per week for each week you serve. This includes travel time to & from the jail. Additional time investment will be based on the role you serve within the team.
We look forward to having a strong, spiritually healthy ministry team & intend to gather on a quarterly basis for a time of fellowship, training, recharging, storytelling & fun!
