My family has been hurt badly because of a recent church split. We feel like we can't trust Christians anymore. We want to have our own church at home. Is it really important that we fellowship at a church

Answer:
What is fellowship?

From the Greek work koinonia, meaning partnership, participation in a social dealing, communication, communion.
Two fellows in the same ship.

Vertical Fellowship - 1 John 1:3
Fellowship with the Father.
It is first and foremost.
All other relationships depend on your relationship with Him.
God's entire purpose in redemption is to restore men to a place of fellowship with God.

How do you have fellowship with God?
Bible reading

Praise
Worship

Horizontal Fellowship - 1 John 1:7
Who participates?
Natural family
Husband and wife
Other family members
Spiritual family
Local body of believers
Entire body of Christ

The focal point of fellowship with other believers is the local church
Believers are commanded to assemble together - Hebrews 10:25
Believers are individual members of a larger body and must find their place in the body and function there to be fulfilled - 1 Corinthians 12:27

More can be accomplished corporately than individually
